Talkin’ Jazz is a community music program for young musicians to meet, learn and play hosted and supported by the Brisbane Jazz Club.
It offers performance based jazz and improvisation programs for high school students who have an interest in playing jazz music and want to learn more about it and meet other like-minded musicians.
"I loved it because it gave me a place to play without feeling judged."
Talkin' Jazz consists of three programs: monthly Jam Sessions, a Big Band, and Performance Workshops. All the programs are designed and facilitated by our fantastic mentors and grow and develop each year in response to participants.
If you are interested in attending a Jam Session come on down to the club and try it out! Visit the Jam Session page for more information including the registration form.

In the past we've been visited by musicians including: Andrea Keller, Sandy Evans, John Morrison, Kristin Berardi, Ellen Kirkwood, Sam Anning, Zac Hurren, Ben Hauptmann, Rafael Karlen, Steve Newcomb, David Jones, Dan Quigley, Helen Russell and more!
"...it's such a supportive community."
"I got to socialise with everyone, express myself on my instrument, and have loads of fun."
Please note: The Brisbane Jazz Club or Talkin’ Jazz do not take responsibility for your instrument while attending the Jam Sessions, Big Band or the Workshops.
